As our 2011 “trip of a life time” to South America was so successful (and the pension didn’t run out), we’ve decided to hit the road again.
Before we formally begin our trip and blog, we thought we’d give you a few facts by number so you get a flavour of the sort of things we’ll be doing during the first three months of 2013.
1 Bunnie - Peter will as usual accompany us and will regularly post photographs of himself with our brand new camera.
5 days - will be spent at Spanish school in Panama City at the beginning of our trip to brush up develop our linguistic skills. We will also stay with a local family rather than our usual 4/5 * luxury (or tent).
8 countries - are on the itinerary: Panama , Costa Rica , Nicaragua , El Salvador , Honduras , Guatamala , Belize and ending in Southern Mexico .
8 Internal flights - although many of our transfers will be by road or on the sea/rivers.
11 kg luggage allowance - for each of us: as a number of our internal flights restrict our luggage to 11kg each despite the fact that our British Airways luggage allowance going out is 69kg! Big shopping before we come home is on the cards.
29 hotels - will be our homes ranging from the luxurious Chaa Creek in Belize (where Prince Harry stayed) to the simple La Leona Eco Lodge Tent Camp in Costa Rica .
90 nights - is the duration of our trip
150 bottles of Sauvignon Blanc - will be drunk (a conservative estimate!) G&Ts will be on the side.
180 fabric wash leaves – will be used: see luggage allowance!
Over 15,000 - miles will be travelled in Central America on our second adventure of a lifetime!
We hope that this has whetted your appetite and that you’ll follow our blog regularly and post comments.
